Mother's Day gift guide

I just spent an entire weekend with my mom, and it's not like I didn't know this before, but the woman is truly amazing. It's hard to give someone so important a gift that shows how much he or she means to you, but hopefully a well-thought-out present at least shows how much you care. And since Mother's Day is May 13th, I wanted to give you ample time to get your mom something she deserves.

1. My mom has changed her perfume over the years, but she always smells like some combination of white flowers. A mixture of gardenias and other exotic blooms, Kai is one of the prettiest floral scents out there, and this gift set is a great way to introduce Mom to it.

2. A former coworker of mine used to drink wine and garden—she brilliantly called it "chardonning"—so for her and her fellow chardonners, this prettily patterned set of tools feels just right.

3. If your mom likes to cook and doesn't have a Dutch oven, now might be a good time to treat her to one. You can use it in the oven and on the stove, and it always cleans up easily—a mom must.

4. My mom drinks tea, not coffee, and so would be totally into this travel tea infuser bottle, which I'm assuming can also be used to infuse water with fun stuff like cucumbers and lemon.

5. There's nothing like a great pair of pajamas that looks borrowed from the man in your life. These are made of cotton poplin that should only get softer with age, and they're so chic, Mom could even break them up and wear them out.

6. Full disclosure: my mom would probably not carry a tote bag with a uterus on it, but if yours is woke, this collaboration with artist Zoe Buckman is pretty amazing. Plus, 50% of proceeds will be donated to the Art Production Fund.

7. My boyfriend's mom is totally into essential oils right now, and bought us a similar oil diffuser. It is pretty amazing, and if she has friends who sell Doterra (or if she just frequents the oil aisle at Whole Foods), she'll put this to good use.

8. There is a lot of cheeseball jewelry for moms out there, and then there is this Kate Spade necklace, which is whimsical and fun—and great for layering with her other keepsakes.

9. Both of my parents are at the age where they can get a chill if the temperature dips below 70 degrees. It's hard to find a scarf that's not to warm for summer, but this brightly colored wrap looks so chic—and benefits Honda Classic Cares, a children's charity.
