Conventional wisdom—and a gazillion fashion editors—will tell you a classic white button-front shirt is a wardrobe essential. I agree to an extent; like many essentials, however, it can feel a little...boring. White shirts also tend to be problematic because they're hard to keep clean and can sometimes be see-through. Which is why I prefer a chambray shirt. It has a little more personality than plain white, but it's just as versatile. It leans a little more casual, but we're in a more relaxed day and age, so I think that's quite appropriate. I've featured my chambray shirt many times here over the years, so I thought it was time to put all my best outfit ideas together. Here are my favorite ways to style a chambray button-up shirt. 

It's been a minute since I've done a Get the Look post, and I'm happy to report that spring is in full swing—on my Outfits for Ageless Style Pinterest board at least—because this week's most-repinned look is perfect for transitional weather. The button-up chambray shirt is one of my favorite spring wardrobe staples – it's casual yet cute, laidback without being sloppy, and – best of all – it's incredibly versatile. And now that the style has been "in" for a few years now, this season is bringing forth some fun updates to the classic style, from studs to leather accents and more. Dip-dyed: Tie-dye, ombre effect, or dip-dyed – this style has a decidedly DIY vibe, but you have to admit – it brings back awesome memories from summer camp. Just me? Pictured above: Warehouse Western Shirt in Dip Dye

Leather accents: Last fall and winter saw plenty of leather accents – dresses, contrasting-sleeve parkas, and even t-shirts – so it's only fitting that our favorite spring fare should get the same treatment! Pictured above: IRO Travis Denim Shirt
