An honest review of Chicwish

Chicwish provided me with all of the clothing in this post for free, however all of the opinions in the following post are 100% my own.

If you've been scrolling on Instagram recently, chances are you've seen ads for Chicwish—and if you're me, chances are those ads have followed you all around the Internet. I actually bought a Chicwish skirt on Amazon and featured it in my birthday outfit post last month; Chicwish saw that and graciously reached out with an offer to review some products of my choice. Of course I was curious to try more from this brand, so I jumped at the chance. Here's a little background on Chicwish, plus an honest review of everything I bought.

Is Chicwish legit?

Yes, Chicwish is a totally legit company. It has been around since 2011, and while it's based in China, Chicwish has a strong presence in the US, the UK, and multiple other countries. It's not one of those bait-and-switch e-retailers that steals images from social media and sends you totally different product. What you see is what you get, and they do partner with influencers (like me!) quite frequently. Products are shipped from Asia and can take several weeks to arrive—my order came in three parts and was delivered through the mail—however they do sell a selection through Amazon, and many of those items are available with Prime shipping. They do take returns within 30 days of shipping, and those returns are free for customers in the US and UK.

Is Chicwish good quality?

Overall, I was blown away by the quality of most of the items I ordered, especially considering prices are almost always under $100, with most items under $50. Most of the materials are synthetic—there's a lot of polyester, rayon, and acrylic—but everything is well sewn, many pieces are fully lined, and nothing felt overtly cheap to me. One thing to note: most items arrive very wrinkled since they've been crammed in a shipping package for several weeks, but a good steaming should bring it back to life.

A note on Chicwish sizing

I am 5' 7" and almost always a US size 6. In most cases, I ordered a Chicwish size Medium, or a Small/Medium, but I will note the exact size below for each item. As a general rule, I've found that Chicwish runs 1-2 sizes small. They do offer detailed measurements for each size of every item, and my advice to you is: PAY ATTENTION TO THE MEASUREMENTS. I did not do this, and a few things I ordered are too small for me, even though I sized up. I also found the sleeves on several items to be a little short, but more on that later. Many items have reviews and photos, so use those to your advantage. One last thing, Chicwish does have expanded sizing in many of its bestselling items up to 3XL, but could expand that range a bit further, considering many pieces are only available in small or medium.

What I bought

Ruched long sleeve top & leopard watercolor maxi skirt

This was hands down my favorite outfit that I ordered. You know when you put something on and it looks so good that it's like an instant confidence boost? That's how I felt wearing these two pieces together. The top does not have what we call "hanger appeal" in the industry, but once you put it on, you can kind of arrange the ruching however you like and wow is it flattering. I believe it's cotton with a bit of stretch to it (there's no fabric tag); it's lightweight enough to wear year-round, except maybe in summer. I'm wearing a medium in this one, and while it's a more snug fit, it feels just right to me.

Probably the last thing I needed in my life was another leopard-print skirt, but this one is so good, I'm glad I got it.  The print reminds me a little bit of the leopard that Steven Sprouse did for Louis Vuitton. The fabric is a very soft, slightly sheer polyester chiffon, and it's fully lined. It has amazing movement—the skirt swirls around you and delicately blows in the breeze—and is super comfy, thanks to its elastic waistband. I'm wearing a medium/large in this one, and again, I'm happy with the fit on this one too. The skirt does run a bit long—I fold over the waistband when I'm wearing it with flats.

Zigzag hem crochet organza top & twisted waist pencil skirt

I will admit, I was not so sure about these two pieces when I pulled them out of the packaging. The top smelled kind of strange, and the skirt was SUPER wrinkled. I ended up washing the top before I wore it (something I almost never do), and that made a huge difference. It softened the fabric a little bit (it's polyester organza, so there's a natural stiffness to it) and perked everything up so that the details really stand out. This top is gorgeous and expensive-looking, and while I styled it for a night out here, it looks even better with jeans. I'm wearing a medium, and it's definitely more fitted (and shorter!) on me than on the model, however the length works well with higher-waisted bottoms. My only quibble is that the arms are a bit too short, which is something that I encountered in several of my Chicwish purchases.

This skirt is something I probably never would have picked for myself, but I ended up really liking it. The fabric has a slight sparkle to it, making it more of an evening skirt, and the twist detail in front is great if you have a lower-belly pooch like I do. It is partially lined, however the lining is not super thick, and combined with the fact that the fabric is super light, you can see everything through it—even the outline of your thong. I think the solution would be to size up; I'm wearing a medium and while it fits, I probably would have been slightly more comfortable in a large. Again, make sure you check the measurements!

Knit Your Love cardigan & golden leaves jacquard midi skirt

You have probably seen this cardigan on every influencer, particularly if they have kids (there's a mini version as well), so of course I wanted one too. Instead of the ubiquitous ivory, however, I ordered it in green, which was a good move. This sweater is super cozy, and while the pompoms form heart patterns, you can't really tell up close (that was a plus for me). It's been great on chilly spring evenings at home, and I've even worn it as a jacket a few times. Unless you have a really oversized coat, however, there is no way you can fit it underneath any sort of outwear, because the pompoms really make it bulky. I'm wearing a small/medium and the fit is perfect—I would have been drowning if I had gone up a size.

As for the skirt, whoa, this was another surprise in terms of high quality. The fabric is really thick and substantial, and the leaf pattern is gorgeous. I mean, it looks like Prada! I worry that I don't have enough fancy places in my life to wear it, but clearly I need to go out and find more! This one is also lined, which is key, because the fabric might be kind of scratchy if not. I am in a medium in this one as well, and while the waistband is a weeee bit snug, the rest is just right.

Striped oversize flare sleeve turtleneck sweater & Breezy solid casual pants

A lot of Chicwish's clothes are super-feminine, but I wanted to make sure I tried something a little more true to myself, and this striped turtleneck sweater was it. This is another one of my favorite pieces that I ordered, and I've worn it a bunch of times IRL—it's particularly great with high-waisted jeans. The cut is super boxy and there are slits on the sides, but I don't feel exposed while wearing it—I think the slits give it a little youthfulness. I'm in a small-medium and thankfully the fit is spot on.

Pants are always tricky, so I don't know what I was thinking ordering a pair from a brand I've never tried before. (Maybe I was being my usual optimistic self?) Judging from the website, these are supposed to be a high-waisted trouser (there elastic in the back of the waistband), but on me they're super fitted through the butt and hips...because I didn't pay attention to the measurements and I ordered a small-medium. I am also actually wearing these a bit lower on my hips because they were really short too (again, should have read the size chart!)—the inseam is 27.5 inches, which is normally well above my ankle. Long story short, Chicwish pants are maybe not the best idea, especially if you're tall.

Floral crochet short-sleeve midi dress & button-down crochet boho maxi dress

I was probably most excited for these two dresses—the white one reminds me of a LoveShackFancy dress from a few years ago, and the black crochet is giving major Dolce & Gabbana vibes. I will say, they are both beautifully made, with thick, substantial lace. However they are not made for people with breasts above a C-cup—I couldn't zip the black one above my ribcage, and I literally popped a button on the white dress. (And because I know I'm going to get questions in the comments, I will go ahead and tell you that I'm a 32F, and yes, I know that's a surprise, but it's what I wear.) I'm in a medium in both, and aside from the bust, they fit me pretty well, if on the snug side, and the white one's sleeves are, again, a bit short. I think a large in both would have been much better, so one more time for the people in the back: double check the measurements on everything!

My honest review

Overall, Chicwish has beautiful, well-made clothes at incredibly affordable prices. I'd highly recommend the skirts, tops, and sweaters—these were my favorite pieces—and no matter what you order, pay very close attention to the measurements of each product. In the meantime, check out their Instgram for more inspo, and thank you Chicwish for sponsoring this post!

So many pretty pieces! I love the white blouse and neutral look and the black and leopard is my favorite! I have looked at that black top (that you have on with the leopard) and am considering it love the look!
Appreciate the review. I ordered a blue and white floral sundress in my usual small, but had to return as it was too big in the bust/hip. I just think it depends on the style, but measurements are key too!
thanks for linking!

Chicwish is a hoax and I am starting to wonder about this review. They never sent me any tracking number, they keep telling me on following up with their support that the item is on the way or its delivered or soemthing else. They have have charged me but I am yet to receive any information on the item, and its been over a month.
