What to wear with slouchy cropped pants

Saturday was our anniversary, so we decided to take a trip down memory lane to the site of our first date, a cozy little wine bar in Hayes Valley called Hotel Biron. We'd both had first dates there before, but thankfully none as good as the one we had with each other—neither of us had been back since! But given that this was our anniversary, I wanted to wear something feminine and special, however it's been raining for the last week in San Francisco, so the weather was not on my side. Also, to be honest, I really wanted to wear my new shoes, and they look better with pants, but more on those later. So while my instinctual anniversary outfit would have been a dress that showed a little leg, I decided to take a risk and wear trousers. Offset with a bit of cleavage, of course—this was a major date night, after all. ;)

As I mentioned, it's been raining here, so I've been wearing my trench coat (last seen here) like the sun will never shine again. I'm amazed at how water-repellant it is, but I think it's quite chic too. That said, I would like to put it away for the season soon. When is spring coming?!

I saw this sweater on another blogger's Instagram (shout-out to Allyson in Wonderland) and promptly snatched it up; unfortunately, it has since gone on sale and is now sold out, but I've linked a similar style below. This sweater shows way more cleavage than I normally do on a daily basis, but I've found it's actually better when I'm wearing a bralette, which flattens me out a bit. (I'm wearing a molded-cup bra in these shots, because date night.) It's very soft, and I sized up for a slouchier fit. I hope Topshop restocks it soon, because it's such a great style.

If you're a fan of my Instagram stories, you've probably seen these pants before; I wear them all the time. I got them on sale and they're a size too big so I have to wear a belt with them, but I love them anyway. I think they're incredibly flattering, and they look unexpectedly sexy when you wear them with a heel (and, okay, cleavage).

Speaking of heels, behold my birthday shoes. I bought these Gucci Marmont pumps after day-drinking quite a bit of Whispering Angel rosé on my birthday (and, to be fair, after I received an unexpected bonus from work). I was worried they were going to be too crazy, and while my boyfriend remarked that they could be a pimp's golf shoes, I am totally in love with them, so yay drunk me! Not to mention, any woman within a 20-foot radius drools over them. They run true to size (I'm almost always a 8.5 US and am in a 38.5 here) and now that I've broken them in, are quite comfortable. Expect to see quite a bit of them here.

I'm still on my delicates kick, jewelry-wise, but threw in a little more bling because—you know what's next—date night. As for the layered-look ring, I thought I had lost it but found it in a purse I hadn't used in awhile. I love it when that happens! I love this bag (last seen here as a crossbody), and this time I decided to use it as a clutch because…wait for it…date night.

In case you were wondering, we shot these photos right outside of Hotel Biron; the restaurant in the background is Zuni Cafe, where we went for dinner, and also where we ended up for dinner on our very first date (yes, it ended up being a fancy first date). It's one of my favorite places in San Francisco, and I highly recommend it—get the caesar salad and the roast chicken for two. And the chocolate cake if you have room. :)
