Spring trends: slingbacks

I saved the best spring trend for last: shoes! More specifically, slingbacks, which I wouldn't normally qualify as a trend, but there are so many amazing ones out there right now, I had to feature them. The good news for my over-40 feet is that the best ones have low heels, many in that 1-1/2–2" sweet spot. The even better news is that there are slingbacks with all manner of fun colors and details. The best news? You can wear them right now.

1. I am a fan of a red shoe (see here or here)—you can be wearing the most mundane clothes and it just really makes your whole look pop. These have a unique metallic finish and a scrunched look, which make them even more noteworthy.

2. With their high vamp and chunky heel, these slingbacks combine three trends in one—four, if you go for the mustard yellow color shown here. But they come in several other, more practical colors too, if you're worried about keeping that suede clean.

3. Green is kind of polarizing, but good news—this style comes in 17 colors and patterns, so pick your favorite. I was drawn to the snake-print heel on this one (also on-trend), but the adjustable buckle is a nice touch too.

4. I don't know where this designer came from, but her shoes are killing it this season—I've included another one in the feed below. I feel like this one looks way more elevated than the price suggests, especially with the metal detail at the instep.

5. No one does a quirky yet ladylike slingback like Prada, and they have so many good ones this season. My favorite, however, is this bow version, which will go with simultaneously nothing and everything in your closet.

6. Another brand that's new to me, Linea Paolo seems to have come out of nowhere, but I love nearly all of their shoes, especially this low-heeled slingback. Again, the quality looks much, much higher than the price.

7. Confession: I have not stepped foot in a J.Crew store in years, but I've come across products from their Factory store quite a bit, and I'm into them. They tend to sell J.Crew's greatest hits and, well, like this surprisingly edgy pump, they're hits for a reason.

8. Loeffler Randall is, hands down, one of my favorite footwear brands—they do that "ladylike but cool" thing so well. I am generally not a huge polka dot person, but all of a sudden I want these.

These are all so, so fun! I love that sort of rainbow/silver pair! I don't really have any of these in my closet, but I've been wanting to add a peep toe pair soon!

Love these shoes, the Yuul Yie medallion pumps are really special, and Loeffler Randall basically would fulfill all my shoe dreams if I could only afford them.
