How I'm ditching bottled water

This post is sponsored by Brita, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

Real talk: plastic water bottles are bad for the environment. Like really bad. Americans consume 2,000 bottles of plastic water per second, and if we keep going at this rate, there will be more plastic bottles than fish in the ocean by 2050. The good news is that there's an easy solution to this problem: filling your own reusable water bottle with filtered water. It's a super easy thing to do that has a huge impact on the environment, plus you'll save money (hey, those plastic water bottles add up!) and filtered water tastes just as good as (or even better than) the stuff that comes from a bottle. Here's how I'm ditching bottled water with the help of Brita.

I've used Brita filters for years, and I'm happy to report that they have a new Longlast filter, which, you guessed it, lasts three times longer than the standard Brita filter—up to six months! It also reduces 99% of lead, mercury, chlorine, benzene, and simply makes water taste better. Oh, and it replaces up to 1,800 single-use water bottles. That's like $1,800 that you could be saving (or using to buy yourself a fancy new bag!).

I use Brita's Monterey 10-cup pitcher with a Longlast filter to refill my reusable water bottle—the shape is sturdy, the handle is easy to grip, and it has a handy little spout that I use to pour directly into my water bottle. I use a steel one, but there are a lot of great options out there in glass and BPA-free plastic. The key is to use one that's easy to carry—I tuck mine into my purse or sometimes even my jacket pocket, so I always have tasty water on hand (and so I'm not tempted to buy a plastic bottle)!

Saving the environment, saving money, and doing good for both your body and the planet—it's super easy. Will you join me in ditching bottled water? Thank you to Brita for sponsoring this post!

Good for you!! I have tried to lessen my consumption and definitely don't use them at home, but I admit to sometimes still drinking them in a pinch out places.

I really need to do this! I am so bad, I use bottled water still (for the convenience!).

Great post-Cheryl. I have a bottle like this for work and all the children and husband do too. They are great, aren't they?

Thanks for sharing at Welcome To The Weekend Blog Hop, hope to see you on Monday for our next blog hop :)

I'd love to get one of those Brita filters, I think they are a good investment! :)

I ditched bottled water years ago - it doesn't make sense to keep paying for bottles of water here when it's so hot you need to drink so much each day! I have a little stainless steel water bottle I carry everywhere with me, luckily there are lots of places I can fill it up on the go! :)

Hope that you had a great weekend! I just posted my weekday wear linkup, I'd love you to join! :)
