Get the look: black blazer and white denim maxi skirt

While the weather hasn't quite gotten the memo that it's officially spring, I'm at least starting to think about what I want my wardrobe to look like this season. One of the most surprising yet welcome developments is that denim maxi skirts appear to be making a comeback. So how serendipitous that this month's most-repinned look from my Outfit ideas for ageless style Pinterest board features that very thing! Coincidentally, as I was putting this collage together, I realized that this look is pretty much a skirt version of the last Get the Look post I featured, so clearly you all are on a black-and-white kick. Hey, if it ain't broke...let's break it down (see what I did there?!).

I've been seeing denim maxi skirts everywhere lately (and by everywhere, I mean on social media), and I think I still have mine from the early 2000s, so I will be delving into my storage box this weekend. I don't, however, have a white version, and with its prominent yoke, this one has strong Z. Cavaracci vibes, which I'm not mad at.

While there seems to be a debate over cropped jackets versus boyfriend jackets, I say you need both in your life. The trick to pulling off an oversized silhouette like this is to make sure it's well tailored in the shoulders—otherwise it looks like you borrowed your dad's (or David Byrne's from the "Once in a Lifetime" video).

Pretty much any black turtleneck will do here, but a bodysuit is always a good choice for looking snatched, as the kids say. While I know my favorite from Wolford is a bit splurgy, Commando makes a pretty good (and much more affordable) dupe.

The woman in the photo is carrying a very identifiable YSL bag from several years ago; I could only find it in yellow on the internets, but I'd argue that Bottega Veneta's take is even better (if maybe a little smaller). If it's too much of splurge, there's always this Southwestern-inspired bag from Banana Republic.

Finally, boot season is over (at least in retailers' minds) but I did manage to find a pointy-toe snake-embossed boot that really pulls this look together. And it gets bonus points for a manageable-looking kitten heel.
