Fall trends: plaid coats

It's hard to pick my favorite amongst the fall trends I've featured here, but if I have to, it would be this one. I own probably far too many coats (and jackets) for someone who lives in a mild climate, but my love of outerwear knows no bounds, nor season, apparently. This year, I'm all about the plaid coat. In spite of fact that temperatures are still in the upper 60s here, I've already bought my coat (read on to see which one), and I can't wait to wear it. Here are all of my favorites this season.

1. This coat looks waaaay more expensive than its under-$60 price, which probably explains why it's almost sold out (sorry!). Forever 21 is stepping up its game and I'm not mad at it.
Forever 21 plaid double-breasted coat $59.50

2. This Isabel Marant coat is, first of all, not terribly expensive for Isabel Marant, although I realize it's not exactly cheap either. That said, this is more of a statement coat, in a chic lumberjack kind of way.
Isabel Marant Etoile Gabrie plaid coat $575

3. I've been following Atlantic-Pacific for years, and of all the blogger fashion lines out there, I think hers is most true to her style—bright, whimsical, and chic. This colors in this coat are totally unique, and I love the 7/8 length.
Halogen x Atlantic-Pacific plaid coat $249

4. The price of this classic-looking glen plaid coat seems almost too good to be true, but the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, so, really, what do you have to lose?
Shein glen plaid coat $45

5. I probably erred in showing the budget version of this coat first, but this one has a few more refined details, like the contrast pattern at the lapel and the hidden closures, which give it a more streamlined look.
BCBGMAXAZRIA Valentina glen plaid coat $298

6. Full disclosure: this is the coat I bought. It has a cool slouchy shape, and it's been ages since I've had a brown coat. It runs a little big, and it's unlined, so it's probably not best for those of you who live in cooler climates, but it should be just right for San Francisco, and I can't wait to wear it.
Avec les Filles plaid coat $178.90

7. This coat is like a slightly exaggerated version of the previous one, but as a bonus, it's lined, so it's going to be a little bit warmer. I love the retro vibe of this one, and I've already spotted it on several of my favorite influencers' Instagrams.
Mango recycled wool coat $229.99

8. This coat is probably a beast to keep clean if you live in a place that actually gets snow, but I love the colors and the longer silhouette. It's a statement coat, but a more quietly well-done one.
Cinq à Sept Maya wool plaid coat $895

I would LOVE a plaid coat, I just love the grey one!! It'd be fun, yet a good neutral that would work with most of my outfits. :)
