My go-to neutral spring outfit

I'm just back from a trip to Mexico City—yes, my full travel diary will be coming soon—and after five straight days of eating and drinking to my heart's content in a warm, dry climate, it almost feels like forever ago that we shot these photos. I also still have a bit of vacation brain, so apologies in advance if this post kind of meanders. There is no overall theme to this week's post, other than these are the pieces I've been living in lately, many of which I brought on vacation, and most of which you've seen before. Together, they're all neutral pieces (yes, leopard is a neutral!) that just work really well together. Here's how.

I've worn this coat several times before; you most recently saw it in Orange County last year. I'm very particular about leopard prints, but this one is so well done, plus the cocoon-like cut is really flattering. I love the weight of it too—it's lined, so it's substantial enough to stand up to cooler weather, but it's cotton, so it breathes too. It's from a few seasons ago, but Ganni keeps bringing this print back, and there's currently a long shirt on sale at Net-a-Porter that I've linked below—you could pretty much re-create this look with it (and it might even work better if it's warmer where you live). I'm in a size 38 for reference.

As I mentioned in last week's post, I've been on an H&M kick lately, especially with pieces from their premium and conscious collections. This top is a linen blend, and it's incredibly lightweight and soft, with a nice drape to it. I like that the tie is adjustable, and that the sleeves aren't too tight. It works really well with higher-waisted pants and skirts, and if you're not into this sandy shade, it comes in a bunch of other colors as well—I love it so much, I'm considering buying it in multiples. I'm in a size small, and like I said, the fit it just perfect.

You've also seen these culottes before, back in Geneva, and while they've been hibernating for most of the winter, they're back in full force for spring now. When wearing such a relaxed silhouette, I like to contrast with something more fitted, hence the finer-knit, lightweight top. It then seems counterintuitive to wear these with a cocoon coat, but since both pieces have some structure and weight to them, it somehow all works. These are from last year and the fit is a little wonky (I'm in a size 2), but I've linked COS's current version below.

I didn't take my Staud bag to Mexico and I missed it greatly; I am clearly obsessed with it (and, yes, you just saw it here last week). As I've said in, um, my last two outfit posts, it's just a gorgeously clean shape in an unexpected color. And speaking of unexpected, I've generally stayed away from "comfort shoes" because they've always looked so clunky and obvious, but Jambu sent me these wedge sandals and after wearing them all day (and walking over 10,000 steps in them), I didn't want to take them off! I think the woven leather detail along the front is really interesting and the T-strap shape is flattering to the foot; I also love the subtle contrast of the woven pattern and the leopard. It's a more subtle way to mix patterns, and I'm into it.

Funny story—it was pouring rain when we shot these photos, which was even more unexpected because it almost never rains here so late in the season. Thankfully we found a nice covered porch in the Presidio, which is just a few minutes from my place. And, silver lining, the overcast skies created a nice little light filter. Sometimes things just come together like that—and then we got brunch
