Fall trends: plaid boyfriend blazers

I wear a blazer pretty much every day, to the point that I worry about turning into Suze Orman (although it would be nice to have her financial savvy). But a blazer is the one piece that instantly makes anything I'm wearing feel that much more pulled together. This season, I'm all about the plaid boyfriend blazer, the longer the better (bonus points if it covers your bum, so you can wear it with leggings). It's obviously menswear-inspired, but with details or colors that make it softer and more interesting. Here are my favorite oversized plaid blazers for fall 2019.

1. At just under $100, this first blazer is a budget-friendly way to try out this trend, especially if you think it may not be for you (although I'd argue that nearly everyone can wear it, hence why I'm featuring it). The black, white, and gray colors in this one make it one of the most versatile blazers here.

2. The fact that this jacket is wool and less than $200 pretty much blows my mind—it's one of the best values here. I know Everlane can get a little schticky with their "radical transparency" and all, but in this case, I'd be willing to put up with it for a blazer this beautiful.

3. Ganni is one of my favorite Scandinavian brands (or favorite brands period), and obviously what's the most striking about this blazer is its deep red color. The double-breasted cut is very of-the-moment and what all of the Danish influencers wore to Copenhagen Fashion week a few months ago.

4. Rag & Bone is a brand that used to be one of my go-to's but has kind of lost its way since its founders left. However this very tailored, slightly quirky windowpane plaid blazer reminds me of its earlier, prep-school-with-a-twist days, so I may need to give the label another chance.

5. Laveer is a brand that's new to me, and so far I'm a big fan of their interesting takes on the traditional plaid blazer. The softer colors in this one are unexpected and refreshing.

6. This one is obviously a bit of an investment, but if you have the money, worth it, due to the interesting seam details and truly his-but-better cut. And I always love to include a splurge for variety (and for inspiration).

7. Won Hundred is another Danish brand I love, and an even quirkier one than Ganni. The crazy-long lapels on this blazer give it a really unique look—it's an interesting study of proportions.

8. Whistles is a British brand, and if anyone knows how to do a proper plaid blazer, it's the Brits. I like the navy-based color scheme of this one—it's a little softer and easier to wear than black.

These are so trendy right now. I'd love to find a plaid one when I go to the outlets soon. I love the color of #3!

Cheryl, these are great picks! I love a good plaid blazer and I think I currently only have one in my closet. I only recently started wearing blazers more frequently. I always found them uncomfortable but now that I have added some that fit properly, I wear them much more often. They are a great alternative to a jacket in Fall weather, too. Thanks for linking up with me.
