What to buy from the Amazon Aware collection

The fashion industry is slowly acknowledging that it's terrible for the environment. Of course, the best solution to that problem would be for everyone to buy less clothing, but we all know that's probably not going to happen (at least not anytime soon). The silver lining is that many fashion companies are shifting to more sustainable processes, and while there is a certain level of greenwashing going on in terms of marketing these "eco-conscious" products, at least it's a step in the right direction. Perhaps to draw attention away from its gazillion environmentally harmful practices, Amazon recently launched its Amazon Aware collection of fashion, beauty, and home products that are carbon neutral (offset through carbon credits) and feature various Climate Pledge Friendly certifications, one of which is Amazon's own certification (insert eye roll here). Full disclosure: Amazon sent me four items from the collection to try for free. My take: they're of much higher quality of any other clothing I've ordered from Amazon, and if that bodes well for the future of fashion on Amazon, I'm all for making every line adhere to these standards. (After all, if we can make some fast fashion more sustainable, can't we do that for all of it?) I already featured the sweater and button-down shirt in my Amazon tops post, and the other two pieces I got were so good, I had to give them a separate post. Here are my favorite items from the Amazon Aware collection.

Amazon Aware recycled polyester sherpa jacket

Chances are you already own a teddy coat (or two), and chances are also that it's made of polyester, which is made of petroleum, which is bad for the environment because drilling. There is A LOT of polyester clothing out there, and FYI, it takes over 500 YEARS to break down in a landfill. So remember that the next time you're thinking about buying something polyester, unless it's made of 100% recycled polyester like this jacket. I have a Uniqlo teddy coat that I love, but this one is much nicer—the texture of the sherpa fabric is tight and curly yet soft, and the jacket is fully lined, making it much warmer than it looks. The cut is slightly boxy and a bit generous; I ordered a medium to be safe (I wanted to be able to wear a sweater underneath) and probably would have been ok with a small. My only quibble is that I wish the pockets were a little deeper (very minor, but I worry about my phone falling out), but overall, this jacket feels way more expensive than its $60 price tag.

Amazon Aware jersey ruched dress

This dress is made from sustainably forested, beechwood-derived Tencel Modal fabric, otherwise known as that light, slinky jersey that really high-quality T-shirts are made from, and it has a hint of elastane for stretch and shape. It is incredibly soft, lightweight, and breathable—I feel like you could easily wear this into early summer without a problem. The dress is ruched at the side, and the way the fabric drapes is super flattering. It's definitely clingy—I am wearing Spanx in these photos—but really comfortable, and I feel confident wearing it. I'm in a medium, and since several reviews complain about the fabric being see-through, I'd err on the side of sizing up to avoid that. I'm highly considering ordering this in navy too and hope that Amazon offers it even more colors in the future, because at $33, it's a straight-up bargain.

Isabel Marant Dernee boots

Shoe-wise, I've been wearing this dress with everything from sneakers to heels, but since it was a little chilly when we shot these, I went with my Isabel Marant boots, last seen on Galentine's Day with a much shorter dress. I think they look just as good with a midi, although later in the year, I'd love to show them with skinny jeans or pants, as that's how I probably wear them most often IRL. As I mentioned last time, they run true to size—I'm in my usual 39—and they're surprisingly comfortable, considering I spend most of my day in slippers.

Clare V bag

Considering this outfit kind of has a lot going on—sherpa, jersey, statement boots—I needed a bag to tie everything together, and the best I could come up with was my trusty Clare V mini tote, which you last saw in November. It picks up the camel color from the jacket and the black from the boots, and it looks great with forest green, a pairing I don't know that I've tried before but I'm happy with the results nonetheless. Then again, leopard is a neutral and goes with everything, so I shouldn't be surprised!

I love the dress and the rusched style . These colors look lovely together. It is nice to see a sustainable line from Amazon, as I usually equate them with fast fashion. The boots and bag look great with this look!

That dress is beautiful on you! the coat looks so cosy too and it's great it's made with some recycled fabrics! I've noticed H&M have recycled polyester in their clothes too, and Cotton on all the tee's I've bought from there recently have included recycled material as well. It's a nice way to slow down the impact of fashion a little :)

Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you are having a good Easter :)
