My favorite outfits of 2022

I always love when the "best of" lists come out in December: it's a time to add more books to my reading list, catch up on music I may have missed, and watch all of the Oscar-contender movies. Last year I decided to do my own best-of post, and I found that it's kind of like when you finish a big project around the house, then sit down with a beer and admire your handiwork. While I certainly had some misses in 2022 (like last week's clogs, ooof!), I had some pretty cute hits too. So let's take a look back at my favorite outfits of the year, in no particular order. Let me know which one was your favorite in the comments below!

What to wear in 2022

My first outfit of the year didn't break any new ground, but it incorporated several of my most-worn wardrobe items like the Agolde Riley jeans and Sarah Flint loafers, both of which I wore today. This is probably the most accurate representation of how I'm actually dressed most days.

What to wear with a caftan

I love how these photos came out—I kind of look like some sort of English garden nymph. I also love everything I'm wearing: one of my favorite vacation dresses, the JW Anderson sandals I almost didn't buy (that became one of my most-worn shoes of the year), and the bag I reach for year after year.

How to wear a cutout dress

Speaking of those sandals, here they are again. And more importantly, this post served as a reminder that even though there are things you think you can't wear...you can. In this case, a cutout dress that I'm still obsessed with (the bright pink Barbiecore trend is still going strong, btw).

Coastal Grandmother style with Margaret O'Leary

Remember that moment earlier this year when we were all obsessed with Coastal Grandmothers? I may have forced that a little in this look (aside from the sweater, it's not actually very CG), but I still think it's cute. I wear the blue sweater all the time, too.

An honest review of Chicwish

As I noted in my original post, I didn't know what to expect with this brand, but I was pleasantly blown away by the quality of (almost) everything I ordered. Of everything I tried, these were two of my favorite pieces.

What to wear in wine country in spring

Full disclosure: I was feeling myself in this outfit. I obviously went all in on pink this year (I think it started on my birthday) and I just love how unapologetically girly this look was, from the super-voluminous pleated skirt to my obnoxious faux fur bag (probably my favorite cheap thrill of 2022).

What to wear in San Francisco in fall

This outfit began with the linen shorts (something I thought I'd never wear) and just got better when I added some of my tried-and-true wardrobe workhorses: a damn good black blazer, a cool tee, and comfy platform sandals (plus a gorgeous Céline bag that I borrowed, RIP Wardrobe).

What I wore in NYC

I was VIBIN' on this Jacquemus-dupe blazer this summer—I feel like I wore it everywhere for like three months straight. I especially loved it with my LaDoubleJ skirt; that brand was one of my favorite discoveries of the year, and while their stuff is a splurge, the prints are so fun and unique.

3 fall must-haves

To be honest, I am still not 100% sold on the look of these '90s loose jeans, however they're comfy AF and I wear them all the time. Even though there's a keeping-up-with-Gen-Z undercurrent to it, this outfit does feel very "me" although in retrospect, I should have worn a heel instead of my Birkenstocks (Kat, you were right!).

What I wore in Croatia

Not the most groundbreaking in terms of styling, but I'd just like to point out that this was my last day of a 2.5-week vacation that I packed for IN A CARRY-ON and I even amazed myself by having a clean shirt to wear. Also, the sweater and tie-dyed Birkenstocks were two of my favorite buys of the year. They'll definitely be back next year ;)

I've been very sporadic with looking at blogs this year, so glad you did a round up. I'm thinking the Bing Tiger Tee and the silk skirt will be in my shopping cart at the first of the year. I'd love those big buckle sandals, but my size is still on the pricey side...
