Rubin Singer Fall 2008
Where & When: Friday, February 1st at 2 p.m. in the Promenade, Bryant Park
Runway Recap: Inspired by the 1927 silent film Metropolis, Rubin Singer sent simple but obviously well-made looks down the runway. Sophisticated black coats and coordinates segued into airy chiffon dresses with techno, almost apocalyptic prints, followed by gorgeously paneled suits and evening dresses. The flattering, forgiving silhouettes lead me to believe that the woman who wears Rubin Singer is perhaps a bit on the older side, but I am all in favor of wearable clothing, and there are enough minis and skinnies on the other runways to go around.
Standout look: This strapless dress conveyed the inspiration behind the designs with a modern, youthful feel.
Bonus Points: Singer had multiple black and Asian models on his runway; sadly, it will probably be the most diverse cast of the week.
Where to Buy: Linda Dresner
