What to wear on your blogiversary

Happy blogiversary to me! Exactly a year ago today, I had an epiphany that I needed to start blogging again, so after a three-year break, I wrote this post announcing my intentions, and here I am a year later. I am amazed and humbled by what I've achieved so far, and I'm grateful to you for reading and supporting me! To commemorate this occasion, I built an outfit around the dress I wore in my first outfit post back in August of last year. (I am almost embarrassed to link to it—we shot it in broad daylight, so there are shadows all over my face, plus my boyfriend has since upgraded his lenses and become an overall awesome photographer. Needless to say, we have learned and grown a lot in the last year!) And because I was so happy with how this shoot turned out, I'm including lots of extra photos. Ready to start scrolling?

This dress is several years old, but it's one of my favorites for summer because it's so clean and classic. It's also one of my favorite dresses to pack when I travel; it's definitely coming to France with me. This dress came with a tie belt, but lately I've been wearing it without—it has cleaner lines that way, and I'm notoriously short-waisted, so belts can be kind of tricky for me. This one in particular is long gone, and the end of summer is not an ideal time to buy a white linen dress, but I've linked a very similar style below.

I wear this denim jacket so much, you're probably tired of hearing about it, but the fact that I wear it so much says it all. Here, it hits just at the top of my hip, so it gives a little shape to this look and helps contain the volume of the dress. In retrospect, I wish I had worn something a little warmer for this shoot, but sometimes you have to suffer a bit for your art.

It's been a very long time since I've worn this hat (last seen here, also nearly a year ago), but we went to wine country after this shoot, and it is my favorite drinking-wine-outdoors-hat. The necklace is also one of my recent favorites (you saw it in this post), especially when I'm wearing a V- neckline. It's so delicate but sexy, and adds a little bit of shimmer to the skin. I love it because it's so lightweight, you forget you're wearing it. The bag was recently seen in this post, but it's so cute and summery, I've been carrying it quite a bit.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I've already posted these shoes several times. They're by Calla, a UK brand, and they're made specially for people with bunions. This pair has genius little elastic gussets at the toe box, so they expand to perfectly accommodate my bunion (for the record, I only have one, on my right foot). I love the straps that crisscross over the ankle—they provide added support—and I've been wearing these nonstop because not only are they adorable, they are super comfy too. Also, this pair happens to be on sale right now, and you'll get 15% off your first order! One thing to note: I actually had to size down in these, because apparently I've been inadvertently sizing up my whole life to accommodate my bunion. Make sure you measure your foot and compare it to the chart on Calla's website before you order!

I live on the dodgy end of a very ritzy neighborhood; we took these photos in the fancy part that runs along the Presidio. It's becoming one of our favorite neighborhoods to shoot in, because there is never anyone around! In spite of the fact that I was literally freezing in these photos (if you look closely, you can see my goosebumps—thanks, San Francisco!), this was one of my favorite shoots that we've done so far this year. Thanks again for your support, and I hope to keep inspiring you in the years ahead!

Thanks for linking to your first post! My blog is only a few weeks old and I'm improving little by little. It's nice to see how far you've come. I'd like to get a new lens for my camera.

Happy blogversary Cheryl. I love your sandals, they remind me of the pair I picked for my wedding as I needed flats for lots of standing up all day. They were just like these but a shoe rather than sandal :)

Thanks for linking up to The Wednesday Link Up.
