Website of the week
If I were a celebrity, I think the thing I'd enjoy the most is getting free clothes. I've always found this fact of life a bit ironic, because it seems like when you can finally afford designer clothing (well, and you're famous), then you get it for free. Anyway, I think it would be wonderful to call (or have my assistant call) Gucci or Prada or Chanel and get a sexy dress to wear out that night. So I was pleased to read about eDressMe: While their selection isn't super-designer, if you're a Manhattan girl, $20 gets your dress delivered to you by the end of the business day. Convenient, yes, but free, no. Still, this site is great for everything from impromptu cocktail parties to prom dresses to wedding and bridesmaid dresses (LB, this one's for you). You can shop by occasion, or by brand, and the site also carries a selection of separates, shoes, and accessories. Designer brands include Anna Sui, Cynthia Rowley, Jill Stuart, Shoshanna, and Tracy Reese, and there are more than 1,000 dresses on the site, so you're bound to find something you like. I'm in the market for a holiday party dress, so here's what I found. If I were an Olsen twin, I'd wear this cute, poofy Tracy Reese dress. If I were Kirsten Dunst, I'd wear this lace Anna Sui dress. If I were a little gutsier and more confident, I'd wear this hot Betsey Johnson sequined red dress. But since I'm me, I like this simple but sexy green velvet dress the best. I don't know that I quite need it by the end of the day tomorrow, but regular shipping should have it to my place in time for the party season. Sadly, unlike a celebrity, I'll be wearing the same dress to multiple events, but then again, it's not like paparazzi will be taking my picture everywhere either...a good reason not to be famous.
